Although before I really liked Magical Realism, our discussion in class added more ideas to it that made it much more interesting to me. I now understand it a little better since we added those concepts. Before I didn’t know that it had aspects of historical things. I also really like the idea that it is something that treats extraordinary things as being something that is natural. This idea kind of reminds me of how the news treats certain stories. When they introduce something that happens, and it is a big deal, it seems like the news caster is like a robot as they say it. For example if there is a huge fire somewhere and they break into a show to tell you, sometimes the way that they present/say the news makes it seem like it is not a big deal. Later on they show a picture of the building that was on fire, and the entire building is burned down. Maybe this is because they aren’t allowed to show emotions, I am not saying all news casters are like that, but most are. I don’t know if this is a good example or not, but that is what that phrase brought to my head.

Sorry Paul. I put on my Shakespeare blog why I didn't have my post up in time. I didn't feel well last night so I went to bed early and ended up sleeping through my alarm.

This is a great post. The news connection is obviously helpful in your analysis of magical realism. Now, it's time for you to apply your thinking to Gabo.
